First Steps: 7 HOT KEYS To Accelerate Your
Online Business
I I
didn't intend this to be a pun but it's true...
It's true that there are indeed KEYS to success in your online business, one of
them is SPEED. Thus, the faster you can work on your computer, the faster you
will get your sites up, the faster you can post on your blogs, the faster you
can write an article...
If you're a PC user, try working on a Mac and you will know what I mean and vice
versa. Half the time, you spend finding out how to do this, how to do that. I
believe you're getting my drift here.
Personally, I love HOT KEYS on the computer keyboard because it makes my life
much easier. For instance, if you have a dozen windows open on your desktop and
you need to access an item (eg. data file) on your desktop, what can you do?
There are perhaps three options. Option 1 is to minimize each window one by one.
Option 2 is to hopefully be able to find a desktop icon on your desktop (but it
might not be there depending on the configuration of your computer).
Last but not least, option 3 is to use a hot key combination. In this case, you
simply press the windows key (it should be on the row of keys nearest to you one
or two keys away from the space bar) and the 'M' key together and all your
windows will be magically minimized!
Here Are My 7 Favorite Hot Keys (Plus... A BONUS!)
So, the above is just an instance of how
this hot key can save me lots of time. Here, I'm going to share with
you in total 7 HOT KEYS that are my favorite:
Windows + M: Minimizes all open windows
Control + S: Saves an open document
Control + F: Opens a 'Find' dialog box to enable you to find
an item (eg. a word in a document such as a web page)
Control + H: Opens a 'Find and Replace' dialog box to enable
you to find an item (eg. a word in a document such as a web
page) and then replace with another item (eg. a new word to replace
an existing word)
Control + C: Copies a selected or highlighted item (such as a
picture or several words) into the computer clipboard (which is
a portion of your computer memory) temporarily
Control + V: Pastes the selected item from the computer
clipboard to where your current location is (such as a directory or
within an open document)
Control + Z: Undo what you have just did. For example, you
highlighted a row of text and deleted mistake. You can immediately
press Control + Z to undo that mistake.
Note: The terms that I use above might vary depending on the version
of Windows or different operation platform but the concepts are the
same. For example, Control + F may open a 'Search' dialog instead of
the 'Find' dialog which are effectively one and the same thing.
Before I wrap this up, here's a
Bonus HOT KEY:
Sometimes, when you press Control + Z accidentally, what can you do
to reverse the action? No, you can't press Control + Z again :-)
I find that many people are not aware of this: press the Control
+ Y hot key!
